Seekers of Earth is a 38,000-word introductory novella to the Guardian Knights of Terra series.
Lucas Baldwin, the young son of a powerful lord, is on his first deep space training mission. Advancing through a captured facility he encounters a lunatic girl about his age. Only later does he realize that the girl, Rachel, is speaking English, a long dead language. Rachel talks of an Earth still in existence and more advanced than the horse-and-buggy world that had supposedly been destroyed.
All his life Lucas has been taught that more than three hundred years ago, pre-industrial Earth was destroyed by the advancing Valac hegemony. The Mage, a benevolent and highly-advanced race, were able to save a few thousand people. These surviving humans are offered sophisticated technology in return for their help in the fight against the Valac.
Humans have become the guardians of the Mage. But now Lucas wonders if the history he has been taught is all a lie—but such thoughts are treason.

This is a tantalizing introduction to a new series. It begins in the guise of a future civilization: post-earth, space-traveling, and heavily militarized. But hints soon appear that all is not as it seems. Questions arise as to the history and social structure that everyone takes for granted, as well as the nature of supposed enemies and allies. The main character and a few others are drawn into a dangerous quest for answers. Great world building, believable aliens, and several well-developed characters whom I care about sufficiently to want to follow their adventures. This should appeal those who like battle scenes and all things military, but it's multi-dimensional enough to interest a broader audience. Warning: this is basically prologue with a cliff-hanger ending. Needless to say, I'm hooked and will look for the next book.Product details

This book was not known to me as an "introduction" to the world space when I purchased it. As a result the story felt more like the first third of an actual book, with the final resolution instead what I felt was better served as a chapter break. Im interested in seeing more of this universe, but through a kindle unlimited subscription at best. Once burned, twice shy and all that.
An introductory 'taste' in this series which is well written and full of action. Meet Marine Cadet. Lucas Baldwin, 17 years of age, and accompany him on his missions...
Attacking allies have some really neat vehicles on their side. In addition, this glimpse is filled with some excellent 'gadgetry' (for lack of a better word). I also thought the military scenes were excellent including the battles.
A most interesting glimpse into the future as well as going back into the past. Doesn't get much better than that... Will read on as I see the second one is already out. I also appreciate that the continuation is now available. Sometimes the lapse between a book in a series is so long that I forget what has transpired in the first.
Most highly recommended.

I recommend for all science fiction fans. A convincing evocation of a future human world with links to the present and suggestive metaphysical themes reminiscent of Stephen Lawhead.
While the characters are fairly flat, the universe is interesting, as is the story. This is one of those books that you read through and pick up the next one because the story is compelling enough to keep you going for the answers.
I really liked the book and I have pre-ordered the 2nd book. Hope it is longer than the first. I don't care for short stories masquerading as book. But I have a taste so I will read the 2nd one and then some of the other books. I love Sci Fi books like this one.
I love space opera, and the premise of this one seemed interesting. The story ends on a great cliffhanger, and I'll be starting the next book right away! The battles are well-written, neither confusing nor boring. I'm looking forward to reading more about the cultures and worlds.
